v'day special: BFF night!

If you're single, another great option for Valentine's Day is to spend it with your best friend -- or even better -- a whole group of them! This could be a group of boys and girls rather than just girl friends, but beware: some of the activities I'm going to suggest might be too feminine for some of your close guy friends to participate in. But hey, you never know what they like to do in their own free time! After all, a lot of guys love a good pedicure. Although if you're anything like me and hate feet, you might have to let them do theirs themselves..

As we get older, we lose that idea that sleepovers are cool. If we have sleepovers when we're over high school age, hell maybe even middle school age, it's typically because we're crashing due to being too drunk to drive or we ran out of cash for a cab ride home. Which hey, is totally fine because it's responsible! But why can't we just have sleepovers for fun? Sure, we have real jobs (well, some of us) and responsibilities, but Valentine's Day is a great excuse to kiss those responsibilities aside and make time for some teenage girl fun that we've been missing out on.

Some ideas for a sleepover: curl each other's hair with some old school curlers or hot rollers rather than a curling iron, watch movies with some iconic female characters (Legally Blonde, Clueless, Spice World, Breakfast At Tiffany's..) or take on a marathon of one of the current television shows that you all can't get enough of (Pretty Little Liars, anyone?), make your own snacks with things lying around the kitchen (cupcakes, nachos, pizza bagels, cheesy popcorn..), wear face masks and take lots of selfies then dare to post them on Instagram, look up old friends from your group on Facebook and leave them nice messages saying you were thinking of them - no matter why things fizzled out, wear either your corniest pjs or your prettiest ones, play games from your childhood like Truth or Dare or Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board, try to contact the spirits of awesome girl's past with your Ouija board -- how about Lucille Ball or the great-grandmother you never met? Just don't take it too seriously.

If you and your best friends would rather hit the town than stay in in your pjs all night (or at least, go out before donning those adorable floral pjs), I also have some suggestions for you! Wear an outfit that your girl-power spirit animal would be proud of (fuzzy cropped sweater and skater skirt? Very Cher Horowitz) and hit the club or bar that will be the most devoid of couples. Hopefully, this means any club, since that is definitely a tacky date. But you want to be where you can dance all night long, and the emptier it is, the more likely that you'll get to butter up the DJ to play your favorite songs or you'll have total control of the jukebox. Then keep up the theme of girl power! Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Ke$ha, Aaliyah, Destiny's Child.. You name it, make them play it. Then dance the night away in your cutest heeled ankle boots. Only order drinks from the top shelf all night and tay away from sugary drinks to avoid a terrible hangover! When your feet are finally getting too tired, head over to the nearest pizza joint and share the largest pizza on the menu, gossip over the people at said bar, then fight over whose house you're all crashing at that night!
